TrackerPAL™ partners with parole and probation officers - referred to in the TrackerPAL system as
supervision officers, to monitor the location and movement of individuals in the criminal justice system.
TrackerPAL is an Active Tracking system; it integrates a physical tracking device with a sophisticated GPS software system and a Monitoring Center to provide real-time location tracking 24/7.
The TrackerPAL device is an active, single-unit ankle instrument that can initiate and receive voice communication. Signals from the TrackerPAL software, initiated by the supervision officer or the TrackerPAL Operator, can cause the device to vibrate or sound an alarm.
TrackerPAL software is a database of agency, agency users, and offender information.
Supervision officers can set inclusion and exclusion areas, provide instructions in the event of boundary violation, and receive up-to-the-minute details of offender location. TrackerPAL can be used as an organizational tool to keep track of court documents, notes on offender behavior, and documentation of restriction violation.

The final component of the TrackerPAL system is the Monitoring Center, which provides an important link between the offender and the supervision officer. TrackerPAL operators who monitor TrackerPAL are more
than just operators—they are personal assistants. They provide around-the-clock human analysis of all data.
When an offender violates his or her restrictions, a TrackerPAL operator immediately executes the instructions specified by the offender's supervision officer.
As a supervision officer, you can access a secured Web site at any time, review restriction violations, and even change an offender's location restrictions. You can also send a message to the PAL Monitoring Center or go through the Monitoring Center to directly talk to the offender through cellular technology in the tracking device.
Housed in a nearly indestructible shell, each TrackerPAL device includes a tamper alarm, a tamper-resistant
ankle strap, rechargeable/replaceable batteries and an automatic battery alarm system. Pricing for the
TrackerPAL solution is roughly one-half to one-third the price of less-effective, competing solutions and significantly less than the national average of $65.00 per day for incarceration.
With a built-in central processing unit (CPU), the device is able to alert the Monitoring Center of any efforts
made by offenders to tamper with it. The ankle strap is fixed to the offender and requires the destruction of the strap for removal. It is custom designed to be yet strong, and uses fiber optics to assist in making it extremely difficult to circumvent and remove without detection.
